Practitioner and Master Practitioner in NLP and Medical NLP, Practitioner in Hypnotherapy.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was the first area outside traditional medicine that I trained in. I observed that many of my patients with complex chronic medical conditions were failing to improve with traditional medical approaches. A chance conversation with a friend who was using NLP in her life coaching work ignited my curiosity and I decided to train in the same area myself. NLP was developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder at the University of Santa Cruz, California.
Bandler and Grinder “modelled” a number of successful therapists who were achieving exceptional results with their clients. They observed them closely over a considerable amount of time and managed to codify the structure of what it was that they were doing that made them so successful. They were then able to replicate their success by teaching the structure to others.
When working with clients, we are interested to know “how” the person is doing their particular problem – the structure and process of it – how it works. All experience, helpful or unhelpful has a structure and once the structure is changed, the client’s experience will also change for the better
Medical Neuro Linguistic Programming
Medical NLP is the only system created specifically for the needs of health professionals that has been licensed by Dr Richard Bandler, co-creator of NLP. Medical NLP was developed by Garner Thomson from modelling particularly effective health care professionals from different countries of the world. He also modelled the behaviour and attitudes of patients who recovered particularly well. Medical NLP holds a particularly special place in my heart because of the tremendous benefits both I and my patients and clients have seen through incorporating its spirit and methodology into my practice.
